In an essay, discuss Alexie’s dedication to social awareness in his writing. Include quotes from Alexie’s work to support your assertions.  For example, Sherman Alexie begins War Dances with a selection, “The Limited”, that advocates social awareness and hints on social activism. The poem discusses the responsibility we all should assume as members of our community to promote humanity and the responsibility to stop inhumanity. This ideology persists through most his writings and films.
Alexie explores the theme of self-identity in many selections of War Dances and/or his other works. How significant is for Alexie’s characters to know who they are and what their place is in society? Include quotes from Alexie’s work to support your arguments.
Write an essay in which you compare and contrast Alexie’s representations of men and women in his work. In his work, does Alexie assume specific gender roles for men and women? If yes, what are those roles?  Include quotes from Alexie’s work to support your arguments.
