WRITING ASSIGNMENT #5: RHETORICAL PLAN
Discuss how you would join in the conversation with the authors attached, addressing the 5 components of the Rhetorical Situation (context, audience, purpose, persona, text). You will explain/define each component of the rhetorical situation to demonstrate that you have a strong understanding of each component. After explain/defining, you will need to discuss how you might handle this component if you were to join a conversation with the authors whose work you have been analyzing.
Tips for Writing your Plan:
Context:
What has been happening in the file regarding this topic? What have been the issues under consideration?
What have been the arguments, problems, solutions, etc.? Who has a stake in the conversation or outcomes?
Audience:
To whom would you specifically direct your argument? Why this audience and not another? Describe your intended audience in as much detail as possible and provide a clear justification for why this audience would be appropriate for the argument that you would make.
Purpose:
What would be your ultimate purpose for making this argument? What do you want to accomplish?
What do you want to happen or change when your audience is done reading your argument?
Persona:
How do you want to present yourself to your audience? Formal? Academic? An expert in a specific area? Knowledgeable or experience about a particular perspective? A careful researcher? Someone who considers multiple or opposing views? Why is this persona essential for your argument, purpose, audience, and context?
Text:
What specific claims will you make and what types of evidence might you use to support these claims? Will you conduct surveys? Research experts in the field? Who might be considered an expert and why? What specific pieces of information ill you include and why? How might you organize your argument/document?
